Eric: Of course I miss you, though.
How’s the new house?
2: Julia and Mel, talking.
Julia: Big.
Mel: It’s really nice, very roomy.
Julia: It’s one of those machine-printed houses. Wish I coulda seen them build it.
3: Eric sits up in his bed.
Eric: I’ll see it soon. I’ll be out of here in a couple days, krrff, and-
4: Eric sits up, turns coughing into his arm.
5: Julia watches Mel’s expression which is surprisingly stern and fixed.
6: As Eric’s coughing subsides, Melissa pats his shoulder.
Mel: Soon, Dad, but just try to rest for now.
We’ll get you home quick, then you can come help around the new place.
I wonder. With everything Julia did before, reforming her body, along with another’s… They showed the wound on her leg that she used to have, yet no longer does.
Would she potentially try and repair, the damage done to another? And, if so, would it be right? Heck, would she even have total control over such a thing? Feels like it brings up a Theseus ship argument, although souls do complicate that.
If you’re going that route, bear in mind that most of the cells that make up your body today will not exist in a few years, and they were not the ones that made your physical form a few years ago. But it’s still a fair question, especially since we’re talking about a… “thing” that could potentially erase the individual. Even returning from it leaves a… questionable state, doesn’t it? And there’s a question of “if she can at all”
Perhaps, although the neurons within the body do take some more time to go compared to other things.
But yeah, with Eric looking a little bad, and Julia having the ability and/or status of being “sovereign” to TOWC, I’m wondering if she’d try healing someone that’s injured or sick, and, if the results would be as good as they seemed, back when she reformed.
Of course, if new cells are forming all the time, maybe it’s like a continuation thing. All a persons cells are connected, so from their perspective, consciousness keeps going. Brain stuff is certainly weird though!
