2: The empty hall of the science facility is seen.
3: A cart quickly skids around a corner.
4: Xijo is driving as fast as the little thing can take him.
5: He skids to a halt outside a black mass testing room.

My guess: One of the heroes uses the black mass sword there to cheat death in a way we don’t need to understand because it allows for a happier ending.
What do you mean by “sword”? Did I miss or forget something (in the comic), or are you making a pop culture reference that I obviously don’t get?
