1: Vidali is shoved back, she slides on her feet, spear scraping against the ground in a shower of sparks.
2: The Idol recoils and pulls back, seeming to squirm in pain: its middle bulging and bloating.
3: The writhing mass of black flesh bursts, gushing blood, fluid and small black slug-like creatures.
4: Vidali recoils and gasps.
5: A leech-like black-idol worm writhes on the messy ground.
6: Julia’s bare paw slams down on it, bursting it.
Perform a “Drax Sabotage” glory kill on 1 eldritch horror – COMPLETE
A what?
I think they’re referencing Guardians of the Galaxy 2, Drax kills a creature from the inside in that movie
So… I’m realizing something. One reason everyone needs to be careful with that spear…if everyone on this planet is made of the black goop, then it might in fact turn /anyone/ into stone.
Or does it only work on the formless?
Probably only the formless, because they are still unstable/malleable and not yet locked into a shape.
Stone being just a shape that the spear stabilizes/locks then into.
Julia has held it before.
It may be tuned to resonate with ToWC’s mind, or it might just affect anyone who can listen.
We’ve kinda established that ToWC is an entity kinda separate from the turned. Might be that this is only harmful to its alien mind.
I can just imagine the snarl coming off Julia. “Get me my clothes. This motherfucker’s going DOWN.”
Looks to me like it’s already down, at least momentarily.
Just then- Ms. Vadali sees Julia appear from the monster’s wreckage and says:
Ummmmm,…I’m glad you’re back??
So, there were 2 of those suckers in panel 3. Where’s the other? Where’s Sedjet? What does the rest of the body that leg is attached to, look like? Find out… AFTER we go over what every single other character is doing! 😉
How’s Kaz? Or Agent Avery? The elephant merc lady? Professor Victor Morgan from #3? Lucian from #10?
Panel 3 of this page?
I DO find it kind of annoying when things are really getting interesting, then the scene changes.
Just a little reminder: “It required lazer equipment to do any damage to it. An analysis of a small sample demonstrated that the entire artifact is composed of tightly-wound carbon nanotubes, existing in a number and complexity that we’ve yet to duplicate in modern science.” It does NOT have blood! It can NOT be just stomped upon! You’ve written it yourself! Issue 1 page 9! What is this I dare ask?!
And no one dares say “It’s mystic and/or it doesn’t have to be logical” it’s no the point! For instance – In “Blood is Mine” was no ‘ilities that broke logic or rules of past events and every magic part was, at the very least, logically explained, and it was an interactive comic damn it! That’s what “well written” means, zealots!
That was a dormant sample. And/or maybe the instance* that sample was derived from was more “mature”; maybe this instance was still assimilating Sedjet’s and Julia’s flesh.
(*Not sure what to call individual masses/instances/cases/colonies of the Black Idol entity (as opposed to the entity as a whole).)
“Maybe” huh? That IS my point, you can’t tell shit, because everything’s messed up, no rules, no logic!
Can you tell me how parts of TOWC can be more or less “mature”?
Assimilation was taking seconds before, why would it take more now?
If Julia rebuilt herself on her own, how does she know how to take materials from the otherworld? She clearly didn’t return them from the black mass, ’cause it’s still splattered around.
You don’t have answers.
You cannot guess.
You only prove my point.
There’s always one…
@Sulferon Take your valium and note you’re several kinds of wrong.
“Maybe” is all anyone has, all we’re *supposed* to have until more is revealed. That doesn’t make YOUR “maybe” win, others exist and DO make sense, which is a point against yours.
First, let’s distinguish between the *material* (let’s call that The Black Mass) and the mind of the “god born as living flesh” (ToWC).
And also the paralyzed parts of ToWC (Black Idols).
The Black Mass can move and be converted between many kinds of tissue.
It is plausible that Black Idols, through its own choice or as an effect of the crystal thing, had adapted to long containment. Or had been like that already, in space.
ToWC, unlike other entities made of BM, has not been shown to bleed at all – but it has genetic records of countless other lifeforms, while Julia and Sedjet – only their own.
BM-converted individuals/fragments figure stuff out either by themselves (Julia was first entirely on her own, then, having gated back, subjected to remote whispers at most, and unwilling to allow further transformation) or via contact with others.
It had certainly NOT taken mere seconds to assimilate Mel or Sedjet, the first time. In fact, anything with a part of ToWC’s mind had so far only assimilated the willing and the dead.
I disagree with TCDD’s idea that “this instance was still assimilating Sedjet’s and Julia’s flesh” – rather, it mostly *was* Sedjet’s and Julia’s flesh, reconfigured as BM, though nowhere near ToWC’s “level”.
Then Julia did a Naomi Rider action hero thing, and symbolism was sure to follow. Heck, she may have subconsciously *created* those small things.
As for mass preservation, maybe the splattered liquids are Sedjet. Or maybe they’re both already reformed and the mass loss doesn’t bother them. Sedjet had grown to over twice his volume before, so the density of that stuff must be low. Or maybe they’re already doing a T-1000 to gather the splatter.
And yes, that’s a lot of maybes, but learn to process them or the world will drive on without you.
You’re not even trying.
For hells sake… “God born as living flesh” is a god born as a material, and very specific one – carbon. Your arguments are so lame I will never bother to answer you ever again.
It’s to early in the story to know what the rules are.
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
