Transcript
1: Julia and Lily run along past the broken buildings.
2: Through the cracks in an ancient wall, the predator swims swiftly and silently through the air.
3: The creature swiftly darts ahead and curls around a corner. Its tongue snaps out and latches on to Lily with a wet, sticky noise.
Julia (off-panel): Fuck! Lily!
4: Julia looks around in panic. Lily is dragged out of view behind the wall, trailing the wire leash.
Lilly: [untranslated robotic alien speech – panicked, aggressive.]
5: Julia’s hand tugs her makeshift knife from where it was tied to her arm.
6: Julia runs towards the slug-like creature, Lily is half covered in the semi-translucent skin, machinery whirs, the white shell and glass-like eyes crack.
Believe it or no, I’ve seen this happen !
In biology class, a worm from one box shot out a proboscis and grabbed a worm of a different species in another, and would not let go until it had drained dry its victim ! Bloodworms look like earthworms, save for that proboscis that it will evert at will.
That’s pretty cool!
