Transcript
1: Julia covers her mouth and scoots back away from the screens.
Julia: Oh my god, oh my god, no, no-
JACKSON! Do something!
2: Jackson is tense and in a mild panic as he looks over the controls of the security console.
3: His fingers flip a specific switch.
4: Above the body of a dead doppelganger, the vent above the control center starts to spray gas.
5: In the vent that Jackson was seen in earlier, a device with tanks of gas has activated.
6: A kae-kariin starts to struggle to breathe, clawing at their throat.
7: A doppelganger foams at the mouth.
Ah, the fresh air of Wickliffe, Kentucky!
…and now i’m disappointed that they don’t have more alien anatomy by needing the same clean oxygen as the main characters ðŸ˜
To be fair, there’s two points to look at this
– Kae-kariin were breathing the same atmosphere unimpeded, so makes sense they need it.
– The doppelgangers are both made up of the entities they are/were and the black idol and so on. Even before the moon temple was visited and it was discovered: Oops, all flesh! the atmosphere, while thin, in there still registered that it was breathable if concentrated (which is what happened after they got power on) so whatever purpose it served them would still be relevant.
I assume things aren’t too hot from our pals in there who aren’t dead and aren’t doppels or kae-kariin
My assumption is that the doppelgänger creatures are either an independent race that for some reason have allied themselves with the Black Idol, or were genetically/biologically engineered by it or another allied race; as opposed to being made up of / descended directly from the Black Idol, as the Earthlings (excluding kae-kariin and ferals) are.
Regarding needing to breathe the same air as the Earthlings, that’s probably a consequence of adapting to Earth’s atmosphere in order to perform their missions.
