1: As Okpara speaks, a background montage of the Kae-Kariin infiltrating society could be appropriate.
Okpara: These are the things told to us, taught to us since birth.
We walk among your people, find our way into positions of power to control you, to manipulate the path of your civilization as best we can, given our low numbers.
We are repeatedly reminded of what you are, what you were, and what you could be once again.
Njeri: Who teaches you that?
Okpara: We teach it to each other. It’s just… fact.
2: Njeri in profile.
Njeri: So the group of you, your community, you all plan this infiltration…
Is that who you need protection from? Your people?
Okpara: …No.
It’s our leader who will want me dead if he learns I was discovered.
3: Njeri leans forward on the table to speak with passion.
Njeri: Zira, we are in a secure facility, likely the most secure on the planet.
If we can hide a secret this big from the world, we can hide just one more person.
4: Okpara squints.
Okpara: And yet you don’t even know who among you is a spy.
5: Jackson leans forward.
Jackson: But you do, Ms. Okpara.
6: Njeri looks to Jackson in surprise.
ok the transcript as I see it right now is funny. Like “Note to self, Rebecca Raptor! A background montage of the Kae-Kariin infiltrating society could be appropriate.”
and inb4 someone accuses me of being condescending, when I very humanly just want to chuckle at very understandable, human mistakes that I empathize with.
Also in panel 3 it’s Jackson and not Njeri!
I’m gonna say poor Zira though. oh OF COURSE some asshole wants you dead
Oof, a lifetime of masking under a false identity, holding onto ancestral tales that have lost their relevance. Zira has a lot of soul searching to do, if she can stay alive long enough to do so.
Finally caught up after falling behind for an embarrassing amount of years. Glad to see this still going strong!
