1: The two quietly creep down a darkened hallway of stone and wood beams.
Zara: This next part is where things get a bit hazy…
That archive is easy to search through, and most of it has been digitized, but…
I know what’s in the inner archive, but I don’t even know how big the place is.
2: Standing in an open door frame, seen from above, the girls stand at the top level of a deep tunnel leading directly down into the earth. It is a circular cavern lined with a seemingly countless number of layers, each perfectly circular and lined with hand railings. Each one seems to have rows upon rows of book shelves and boxes of storage. The bottom of the tunnel is entirely lost in darkness, but the upper levels are at least lit by aged electric lights.
Raising up from the center of this tunnel is a pillar of rough-hewn rock, wide at the base but tapering up to a point. At the point rests a coffin, ancient in polished marble.
Lea: What in the world…
Oh, this bodes well.. time to light a torch and go delving, it seems! Who brought their rope?
Oh man!
I hope that isn’t a secret coffin, that contains a hero of this faith, meaning someone who is supposed to be immortal, but they’re now [dead] in this coffin-looking thing.
Such as, I think- in Greek Mythology, Perseus is an immortal demigod, + is supposed to be…still alive.
What if Julia + Mel have discovered the coffin of- [a guy that is supposed to be an immortal to this church], but Julia + Mel have discovered his grave? That could mean trouble.
(I don’t mean to slight anyone’s religions, or gods, or goddesses, or beliefs, by making my comment, above. I’m just talking about fiction.) 🙂
