1: The ibex is passed out in the corner, wrapped in a blanket, surrounded by bottles of water.
2: With drinks still in their hands, Julia and the sister sneak into a side room upstairs.
3: In a bedroom room lit by a TV and some low lights, the female ibex sits atop Julia on a bed, she looks curious and maybe a little cautious.
4: They kiss deeply.
5: They grope and grind, hands under each other’s outfits, undressing each other.
6: Their bodies stick together: fusing, stretching as if made of putty as their limbs work into each other’s bodies. In the background, the TV once more shows gnashing, hungry teeth pulling at flesh.
1. … Is uh, it just me, or does that black poster on the wall in the second panel say: R.I.P?
XD
Encouraging!!!
2. As, come on dude/dudet/whatever gender a Shapeshifting universally present being is: Why do you gotta eavesdrop everywhere? I mean, on the one hand, yeah, a whole lot of evidence does in fact, point to known life on this planet, originally being you. In the case of Sedjet, if that name is still capable of being applied, he seemed to “enjoy” being back to that original form. The whole time Julia was partially infected though, still seems kind of blurry to me.
How much of the emotion we saw in her, from when she got back from the alien planet, all the way to when she saw/felt Sedjet change, was actually real, TRUE emotions, relief and happiness at what was happening?
On the other end, how much of it was mental and physical abuse? Seeing things that weren’t there, having warped dreams and nightmares, being put into isolation in her room, aside from the occasional interview, and of course, the utterly indescribable feeling, of ones body changing into… Well, something else.
Of course, you could argue that that’s where she’s happy she’s turning into it, that she’s in agonizing “pain”, realizing what life was really like in that old body.
The struggle she was having the entire time though?… When you’re being offered “Immortality”… “The ability to be anything you want, any job, form, etc”… “Never having to worry ever again, about everyday problems, physical death, etc”… It… The One Who Crawls, if IT IS to be believed, gives all of these things, returns all of these qualities, to those that follow it, join with it. The only price is what you may call your soul, body, and mind.
Sedjet metaphorically “leaped”, at the chance. Granted, he was in an anti-radiation room, but still. He was already in quite a… “Distressed”, state, constantly seeing visions of others being changed. He may have been questioning himself, who and what he and everyone else was, all the way back after he first got controlled by that small bit of the Black Idol. Made it easy for him to join.
Julia didn’t though, not at first. Not even now, completely. So… You’re offered everlasting life, limitless shapelessness, a form that spans potentially the galaxy/universe. All of these can be yours, you just have to stop being you. And it shouldn’t be too hard, not according to Sedj, or that one guy on the moon, if he wasn’t a hallucination. It should actually be really easy, seeing as “reverting”, “feels good”.
Yet… Julia cried hearing about her family, hearing Mel talking. She saw a normal cell, saw herself, instead of what was really happening to her body. And now, even when her body has been taken in, fully transformed, the “soul”, the “mind”, that energy and emotion and thoughts that drives her, HER, Julia, still seems to be… Well, herself.
Again, it could be argued that no one on this planet is “themselves”.
Doesn’t it seem odd though? How it has to actually peak through t.v. screens to kind of… Whisper at her? While Sedjet dove right into that sea of coins, Julia decided to stay at the side, because she knows that that “sea” is actually a great many pieces of solid matter, acting as a hard surface (anybody get that reference?).
This could still mean lots of things. Lots and lots of stuff. Sedjet could have been brainwashed. Heck, he could have been so mind-altered, that he changed the lab, causing him to transform. Or, everyone really could and would be happy to turn into TOWC. Or, maybe everyone isn’t on board with the idea, even when they’re taken in. Maybe if the whole world was converted, there would be a whole bunch of people, like Julia, still dreaming, wanting, to be themselves, but not this shapeless, limitless self, no, their little mortal forms. Where does that leave them then? Are they eventually worn down, eaten up by the others who gladly joined? Or are they stuck in this… Endless loop? Finally, of course, there is the idea that, Julia is actually different somehow, that that, is how she is remaining her canine self, if only in mind.
After all of this though, only conclusions I can make after so much speculation is:
1. While there is lots of evidence to support that idea of everyone joining The One Who Crawls, there are some apparent problems and questions to be asked about this idea. Me personally? I’m on Team Whimpy Mortal! WOO!!!
2. … Trying to theorize and talk and debate about souls and minds and how they can be warped, changed, and controlled, really hurts my brain. UGGGHHH, MIGRAINEZZZZ….
3. Can Mel and Julia just uh, maybe, eventually, kiss and date and stuff, maybe add a few more episodes to their Ghost Hunters/Finding Bigfoot show?… Minus the tentacles, teeth, unblinking eyes, black flesh, and murder though?
Anywho… Still rooting for you Julia, to be you, the cool lady we’ve gotten to know in the comic. Just uh… Could you turn off the tv? Wastes electricity when it’s always on, and it’ll fry your eyes if it stays on while you sleep…
Get some rest. Keep dreaming, about being a canine-person-conspiracy theorist-hacker. Maybe sleep in for a bit.
Maybe it’s related to the ‘strong soul’ think the demon was talking about? The implication is that the individuals made from the black idol do have their own souls — maybe they develop their own souls? And some like Sedjet are weak and want to subsume themselves in the mass, but others like… Rhonda? Pangolin girl. Are even stronger than Julia and can force themselves back into shape even after they start transforming.
MAN, that last comment was sloppy!
XD
Also uh… They seem a little… Meshed together…
Why is it that I come to see if there is a new page and there is always a page long comment here. Calm down dude your reading a wee bit too obsessively into this.
XD
Yeah, I will admit, it is a problem I have. I’ll try to be a little more calm next time I guess.
No way, I like seeing long comments, and what’s fiction for if not to stimulate some thought?
True. Tend to spew out a lot of stuff though, something that some like, others don’t.
I’ll keep both of your opinions in mind in the future.
True, they’re kind of meshed together. 😀
It probably feels better than a Vulcan mind meld! ;D
Hel-lo body merge! Whoa~
Oh, I didn’t notice that.
