1: Rhoda stumbles off of her knees onto all fours. She is surrounded by a meditation circle of candles.
2: Panting, she stumbles over to a large chest.
Rhoda: Fuck, fuck fuck…
3: The snake spirit slithers in close with amused interest.
4: The ancient book that Melissa gave her is open. It shows summoning information for a particular demon, including a large, intricate circle of runes. Julia’s family key is near the center of the circle, surrounded by drawn runes and crystals.
5: Rhoda’s hands drag chalk across the wooden floor.
6: Rhoda hastily draws a complicated runic circle on the ground, using tape measure to get the angles right.
The Serpent: What ARE you up to?
Ok so, I was listening to Updog Goodbye while reading this comic, and had a thought, what if instead of Rohda saving Julia, what if she only is able to get just a small sliver of what Julia wants her to do, like Julia somehow knows of Rohda preforming her spells or whatever you want to call it, and Julia’s last request to Rohda is to somehow clear everyone’s mind that knew of her, that way no one would have to live with the pain of losing her before she attempts to lose the last of her consciousness to stop and either destroy or stun evil Sedjet, allowing a scientist lady from a few pages back to stab the idle with the silver dagger and get rid of corrupted Sedjet in the process
Certainly a… Dark path for the story to go. Of course, a lot of the paths it could take are.
I’m not so sure it’ll go like this though.
Wouldn’t forgetting about Julia hurt more than it would help? For one, she’s still evidence for Shankar radiation not existing in large amounts/at all elsewhere. And two, she’s evidence for the idea of “hey, maybe we can do better as individuals”, seeing what she’s accomplished. I mean, sure, she did get infected in the end. For her to get sucked onto the moon, then somewhere , then find a way back though? It might hurt moral, the lose of a memory of someone so determined. It would only leave the memory of Sedjet being taken, and… He’s been strong, made it until the end of the last chapter. But he’s been declining, with signs of it showing. His “death”, without any others, is only an odd tragedy.
And would Mel even be able to forget? She’s had her mind messed with, several times. Got mind controled by a piece of the black idol AND got her memories back with some help from the MIB cat. Who’s to say that everyone else forgets about Julia, leaving Mel to go crazy when she’s the only one who remembers the truth?
Another thought: How much would the silver dagger actually do in this scenario? We know that it can stun/kill black idol matter on contact. However, there are still those spiders crawling on the wires, little things that are harder to get to.
Not to mention, with the whole astral world added into this, what does the dagger ACTUALLY do? Is the body “dead”? Frozen? Are the souls connected to it gone, have they left? Would it really mean the end of this changed Sedjet, or just mean that he is stuck without a physical form for a bit?
Woah, end of that message got butchered. Yikes!
…
Chances are, I’m dumb for not noticing this. But… The flowers in the imaginary friends antlers. And the flowers with the skull on the cover…. But what does it mean???
Is this symbolism or a warning that this deer noodle caused this? Is he related to that thing that ate an arm to turn into a certain tiger, to open a portal, therefore the cover symbolizing him being the cause for what is definitely at least the physical death of the Sedjet/Julia we knew?
Or…. Just… I dunno.
And then, what of Rhoda now??? She was already paranoid, now she’s beyond even that. This is probably a “wall” to keep back TOWC, although I’m not really sure if they could get to her. This form of TOWC (need to come up with a nickname for you!), still seemed confused as it metaphorically “stretched its legs”, while sniffing out Julia. So would it really already have the strength to get to her now, in the astral world? Of course, it did also take in Julia, and right now she seems more… Powerful, or significant, although I’m still not sure why. Still trying to figure it out.
In the case that the circle is necessary though, how long would it have to stay up??? I mean, wouldn’t that suck? You get up in the morning, get ready, you’re heading to work, then BAM, out of nowhere, you turn into TOWC because of some kind of astral infection. Or hey, maybe she wouldn’t transform. Maybe she would just… Be controlled, or have her soul taken out of her body or something.
Another thought: The astral area where she was, had turned into some kind of structure/place, before she found the giant mass of TOWC holding Julia. Does that mean anything for what just happened in the lab? Is the whole place now covered in tentacles like that? The last panels show melting and particles. For all I know, Julia and Sedjet just split into a billion of those hacker spiders Julia was using, then proceeded to spread through the pipes and cracks and air of the building, infecting or killing anyone still inside, at a tiny, inescapable level.
For some reason, I keep picturing Rhodah going to get Julia’s soul out of there, only for her to split open like a demented TOWC flower and eat her as a surprise “I was gone the whole time twist”. I really hope that doesn’t happen. Still care about Julia.
Hm… Alright, gotta rummage through my brain a little… Anything else?….
Nope. Nothing else for now. Cool. Well, I gotta sit down, mind is thinking too much again.
Actually…. Now that I look back, there are a lot more of those flowers than I thought. Probably need my eyes checked.
Maybe the flowers represent Rhoda, her serpent spirit, and her ability to go into the spirit world and see what others can’t?

You seem like someone who would subscribe to Comic Theory if Matt Pat decides to create such a YouTube channel
But hey! That’s just a theory! A COMIC THEORY!!!
Random thought, What if Mr random god person that is following Ronda around (It’s 5:15 in the morning and I’m tired and I can’t remember names worth sh** so don’t judge me) makes a deal of sorts with Ronda, like maybe exchanging her friends soul for another, like Rhoda would have to hunt down a God and kill it, Maybe that is what the dear skull is in the cover of the comic, a God that is the polar opposite of Mr RGPTIFRA, and the Flowers are just saying that “HEY, YOU FREAKING KILLED THE GOD OF CREATION, HOPE YOUR HAPPY”
…..What am I Doing???
I’m trying to save my FRIENDS from the belly of a MONSTER!
What’s the matter? You haven’t heard of Jonah, Little Blue Guy?
😀
I don’t know what Rhoda’s making, but- maybe she’s creating a spell that will [summon] Sedjet and Julia OUT of this magic monster.
I can’t wait to see what happens next. 😀
Unlikely, given her nervous haste.
More likely something to protect herself with – either from some immediately urgent threat (e.g. she is being followed), or some more general protections against the new dangers she has just become aware of.
Like cating a spell of sealing, on herself, to keep control of her form without a maintained effort.
Cool. That’s good to know. Thanks. 😀
