About the Comic

The Order of the Black Dog is a sci-fi horror webcomic drawing heavy inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft. It is set in the near future of an alternate-earth entirely populated by animal people. The political geography of the world is like a re-mix of ours, with cultures transplanted and mixed across the globe and grand civilizations standing where none exist for us.

The narrative of this comic will eventually shift around as we jump to different places and times and explore different themes. There is a main plot that we will constantly visit, but The Black Dogs should be seen as a collection of short stories - some linked together, some not - all set in the same world.

This comic was over a year in the making, and was promised when I ended my old webcomic Concession. At the time, I wasn't fully sure where I was going to go with this one. The original idea was a high school drama featuring gender swapped versions of the main cast of Concession as if to give them a second chance at being in a real story.

Fans of Concession will recognize some familiar faces, and these are remnants of that original idea - a second chance at being in a real comic with a real story. It must be understood, however, that this is not a sequel or a spin-off to Concession. Faces and names may be similar, but this is an entirely different animal.

About the Author

I am an illustrator and occational web designer living near-ish Boston, Massachusetts. I graduated from The University of Massachusetts Lowell with a degree in Graphic Design, not that I've ever used it. Most of my time has gone into illustration, which is my primary method of income. I'm mostly known for my comics. Besides Concession, there is also Ballerina Mafia, a simpler, gag-a-day comic.
