1: In the shade of a small hut, two hooded figures drink water. The figure from before slowly approaches, still in the desert sun.
2: Their cracked and dried hands are offered a cup of water.
3: Raising her veil some to drink, Rhoda looks out of the hut at the desert, her eyes hidden behind sunglasses
4: Zooming out, large runic symbols are seen cut into the bare earth in the nearby desert.
Rhonda is back, woohoo!
Rhoda*
Can’t spell.
*sweatdrop*
Are they making a GIANT, magic icon, in the desert?
Are they trying to attract a giant monster?
Hmmmm …
That sigil seems to have a diameter of about 300m.
Let’s say it sits near the equator, some 6378km from Earth’s center.
Projected all the way out to the orbit of Luna, that’d make a circle about 18km across.
Do we happen to know of a potential target of that size on the moon … ?
What math formulas are you using for your calculations?
… muh? Just a measly Rule of Proportionâ„¢ to magnify the triangle (dia 300 m @ 6378 km distance –> dia 0.3 km * 405 000 km / 6378 km = 19.05 km @ Moon’s apogee, or 0.3 km * 363 000 km / 6378 km = 17.07 km @ perigee) … Granted, I’m assuming that the Moon’s surface at the target site happens to be oriented perpendicularly to the projection line … and that magic follows the rules of Linear Optics, of course …
I see. Thanks. 😀
