1: Julia peeks into the bedroom. Melissa is half asleep on the bed.
2: Julia imagines herself approaching Melissa. Behind her, as if her thoughts were projected on a screen, we see her imagined POV approach the bed.
3: She winces and widens eyes at the thought of pressing her bare hand to Melissa’s back.
4: She covers her eyes as, in her head, her hand sinks into Melissa, flesh ripping and giving way to black mass tentacles.
5: Back in reality: Melissa opens her eyes and subtly peeks over her shoulder as Julia is seen just leaving the door.
6: Melissa shuts her eyes, visibly saddened as she pulls a stuffed animal closer.
What makes it worse? The lingering trauma?
Or the understanding that this very literally COULD happen, and the only way Julia can know for sure is to test it, and risk the indescribably horrific thing happening again. To her and whoever she tests it on.
And all the reasons she’d justifiably be even more afraid of the possibility with Melissa.
There’s not even a good answer. There’s no counseling *that* away.
Or it would be the ultimate final expression of their love, becoming one on a level that everyone else has become too scared and wrapped in what they’ve been told what is beautiful and what is ugly.
If Mel + Julia want that, but it doesn’t look like they do. *shrugs*
Poor Julia… she wants to be close, she wants to hold her again… but she knows the truth about the Black Idol and is afraid of losing control and becoming it again.
Whats it like to fear that you could become a monster and devour the ones you love… and know from experience that this fear is not unfounded?
It wouldn’t really be ‘devouring’ as in the girl she loves would be dead. It’s only non-sapient organic creatures that are actually eaten by the black idol. Those who are really the black idol being forced into an artificial form simply rejoin together after realizing they’ve been the same person all along.
uh THEY ARE UNDER OUR SKIN or whatever
