1: Their hands are close to each other’s as they sit on the blanket.
2: They brush together slightly, Julia yelps a little.
Julia: Ah!
3: Melissa watches fearfully as Julia holds her hand, recoiling as if touching something hot.
Melissa: Sorry! Sorry!
4: Julia rubs her hand cautiously.
Julia: It’s fine, I just…
5: Melissa has outstretched her hand, offering it to her. Julia lifts her hand in hesitation.
6: Laying her hand in Melissa’s, the cat closes her hand around it.
7: The two, side by side, hold hands properly. They exchange worried, but happy, smiles, Julia’s eyes watering slightly.
To be fair, I would react the same way if I thought it was a spider crawled on my hand.
Ok. Who else wants to see those two passionately hug at this point?

Awwww… Poor Julia. mental and psychological scars like that are going to take time to fade…
That permanent understanding that everyone is actually the *same* thing, and that in the right circumstances physical contact will melt them together into a thing that will do the same to everyone else.
Psychological scars indeed.
